Learn how to use Bare Recipes effectively

🍳 Uploading Recipes with AI

Step 1: Go to the Upload Recipe Page

Navigate to the upload recipe page (click "Bare Recipes" or "Upload Recipe" in the top navigation bar) where you'll find the recipe upload interface.

Step 2: Use the Recipe Upload Form

On the upload recipe page, you'll find a form where you can paste the url of the recipe you want to add.

📝 Note: Make sure you're logged in to access this feature

Step 3: Let AI do the work

Click the "Generate Recipe" button and wait for the AI to process the recipe.

💡 Tip: The AI will take a few seconds to process the recipe.

Step 4: Review the Recipe and Report any Errors

Review the recipe and report any errors.

Step 5: Like or add to a collection

Like the recipe or add it to a collection.

🍳 Uploading Recipes Manually

Step 1: Go to the Upload Recipe Page

Navigate to the upload recipe page (click "Bare Recipes" or "Upload Recipe" in the top navigation bar) where you'll find the recipe upload interface.

Step 2: Click Upload Recipe Manually

Click Upload Recipe Manually under the parse recipe section. This will take you to the upload recipe page.

Step 3: Enter the Details of the Recipe

Enter the details of the recipe in the input fields.

💡 Tip: Make sure to include the title, ingredients, and directions. if you are pulling this from a website, make sure to include the url. a description, nutrition, tags, and serving size, cook times, and prep times are all optional.

Step 4: Click the Upload Recipe Button

Click the Upload Recipe Button to upload the recipe.

Step 5: Review the Recipe and Report any Errors

Review the recipe and report any errors.

Step 6: Like or add to a collection

Like the recipe or add it to a collection.

📁 Creating Collections

What are Collections?

Collections are like folders that help you organize your recipes by theme, occasion, cuisine type, or any category you prefer.

💡 Examples: "Weeknight Dinners", "Holiday Favorites", "Italian Cuisine", "Quick Breakfasts"

Step 1: Access Collections

Navigate to "My Recipes" in the top navigation bar, then click Manage Collections.

Step 2: Create New Collection

Click the "Create Collection" to start a new collection.

📝 Note: Collections can be private or public. Public collections are visible to everyone, while private collections are only visible to you.

Step 3: Add recipes to your collection

When you find a recipe you like, click the "Add" button next to "In Collections" and select your collection.

🔧 Managing Collections

Editing Collections

Navigate to My Recipes -> Manage Collections -> Edit Collection

You can change the name, description, and privacy settings of the collection.

Removing Recipes from Collections

To remove a recipe from a collection, click the "Remove" button on the recipe card. This only removes it from the collection, not from your recipe library.

You can also remove it from the recipe page by clicking the "x" button on the collection name in the In Collections section.

⚠️ Note: Removing a recipe from a collection doesn't delete the recipe itself - it just removes it from that specific collection.

Deleting Collections

To delete an entire collection, use the delete option in the collection settings. This will remove the collection but keep all recipes in your library.

🔍 Searching Recipes

Using the Search Bar

The search bar at the top of most pages allows you to quickly find recipes by name, ingredients, or tags.

Search Tips:

  • • Search by recipe name: "chicken pasta"
  • • Search by ingredient: "tomatoes"
  • • Search by cuisine: "italian"

Searching Within Collections

When viewing a collection, the search bar will only search within that collection's recipes, making it easier to find specific recipes.

Searching Within My Recipes

When viewing your recipes, the search bar will only search within your recipes, making it easier to find specific recipes. It also respects the filters like, uploaded, liked or in collections.

⚠️ Reporting Recipes

When to Report a Recipe

You should report a recipe if you notice any of the following issues:

  • AI extraction errors: The AI didn't properly extract the recipe details (missing ingredients, incorrect measurements, incomplete instructions, etc.)
  • Incorrect information: The recipe contains wrong ingredients, measurements, cooking times, or instructions
  • Missing data: Important recipe information is missing or incomplete
  • Inappropriate content: The recipe contains offensive, harmful, or inappropriate content
  • Duplicate recipes: The recipe is a duplicate of another recipe already in the system

How to Report a Recipe

To report a recipe, navigate to the recipe page and click the "Report Recipe" button at the bottom of the page. This will open a dialog where you can:

  • Select the reason for reporting
  • Provide additional details about the issue
  • Submit your report for admin review

What Happens When You Report a Recipe?

When you report a recipe, it will be added to the report list and the admin will be notified. The admin will then review the recipe and take appropriate action, which may include:

  • Correcting the recipe information
  • Removing the recipe if it's inappropriate or a duplicate
  • Improving the AI extraction for similar recipes

Recipe Could Not Be Extracted?

If you tried to import a recipe from a URL but the AI couldn't extract it, you have a few options:

  • Try manual upload: Use the "Upload Recipe Manually" option to enter the recipe details yourself
  • Contact support: If the recipe URL should be supported but isn't working, please contact us with the recipe URL so we can improve our extraction capabilities

When contacting support about extraction issues, please include:

  • The recipe URL that failed to extract
  • A brief description of what happened
  • Any error messages you received
